HKIA Technovation Conference and Exhibition: Meet With the Most Advanced Tracking Technologies

On Sep 15, HKIA Technovation Conference & Exhibition 2015 was held in Regal Airport Hotel. For the purpose of HKIA's technology and innovation development, the event serves as a platform to engage the airport community with the latest technologies and potential solutions to improve their operational efficiency and passenger experience. Over 400 participants from airport community and local technologists attended the event.

The theme of the event was "Smart Airport: Object Tracking", featuring various latest indoor and outdoor tracking technologies. HKC was invited as one of the 20 exhibitors to demonstrate our asset management and real-time location tracking solutions. Visitors can browse the introductions to our solutions on the interactive touch-screen. If they are interested in any of the solutions, our professionals will show more references and explain to them in details. HKC's booth successfully attracted guests from different airports and related industry. Academic researchers were also happy to discuss the development of technology with us and seek for further cooperation in the future.

National Book Fair in Mainland China: Further Explore Library Market

From Sep 18 to 22, The 25th Book Expo and 3rd National Publications and Library Facilities and Construction Trade Fair was held in Taiyuan, Shanxi province. Nearly 700 publishing organizations attended the trade fair and demonstrated over 100,000 new books. Electronic publications and library equipment were also shown in the event.

During the event, HKC Shanghai demonstrated the latest library solutions such as self-check in/out station, mobile stock take trolley and RFID security gate, and answered various enquiries from visitors. Attending the event shows HKC's firm move to fully utilize its expertise in RFID library solutions and further explore the library market.

HKMA Luncheon Meeting: Machine Learning in Elderly Care in Reality

Example FrameDr. On 26 Sep, HKC attended the IT Career Expo 2015 held by Hong Kong Computer Society in HKPC building, Kowloon Town. The event was specifically held for IT elite of different background and experience to seek a job in the industry. Companies that are experienced in IT industry set up booth in the events to attract visitors and also take this chance to demonstrate their features and achievements. HKC applied interactive demonstration for the visitors to learn about the company, job openings and requirements. Through the application, visitors can also easily apply the jobs online with their mobile phone.

During the event, Mr. Alan Ling from HKC was invited to join a panel interview to brief the visitors about basic knowledge they need to know if they want to be an IT pre-sales engineer. The interview satisfied the curiosities of people that were very new to this position.

Awarded 10 Years Plus Caring Company

Earlier in March 2016, HKC is awarded the 10 Years Plus Caring Company Logo 2015/2016 by The Hong Kong Council of Social Services in recognition of its commitment in "Caring for the Community", "Caring for the Employees" and "Caring for the Environment" over the past 10 years.

This recognition will strengthen our determination to leverage our professional ICT solutions to our customers. Launched by the HKCSS in 2002, the Caring Company Scheme aims to foster strategic partnerships between the business and social services sectors to promote good corporate citizenship and create a more inclusive society. Design and Build Contract for Surveillance Security System for IVE(Sha Tin) Campus

HKC awarded the design and build contract for the IP surveillance system of IVE (Sha Tin), which is one of theleading vocational and professional education providers in Hong Kong. Many staff and students are passing the campus throughout day and evening, it was vital for them to feel they are being protected all the time.

HKChas worked closely with IVE to design and install the campus IP network. A number of vandal-proof high definition IP cameras has been installed which can improve the security level in the entire campus. To further protect staffs and students, as well as valuable assets, a central network video recording (NVR) system has been installed to enable recording and monitoring 24 hours a day to eliminate trouble area throughout the campus.

Supply and Install of Octopus-enabled Smart Letter Box System

HKC awarded the Chinachemresidential project for the supply and installation of Octopus-enabled Smart Letter BoxSystem at Inverness Road (NKIL 6493). The system is controlled by an Octopus Controller with Octopus Readers and Electronic Locks for Letter Box of 140 residential flatselectronically. The resident enable to use their pre-registered Octopus Card to access the entrance and to activate the opening of their own letter box. All residents' transaction and operation of the Octopus Access Control and Letterbox activation can be stored in the Octopus Computer for reporting. After deploying the system, it improved the convenience and security as well as better property management as compared with the traditional key-open letter box.

30-Hour Famine Camp 2016 "2cm Apart"

30-Hour Famine camp has been held successfully on April 9 and 10 at Aberdeen Sports Ground with about 5000 campers from different organization, schools, corporate companies, churches. As a continuous major sponsor, HKChas supported the meaningful event this year.

Despite the rainy weather, every camper did not give up going hungry and all funds collected through 30-Hour Famine will be used for food security and development projects in areas in need such as eastern and southern Africa, Syria and neighbouring conflict-affect countries. WorldVision will also focus on emergency food aid, health and nutrition, agriculture and livelihood.

HKC Awarded RFID Solution of Inventory Control System for Tang Siu Kin Hospital

In March 2016, HKC was awarded the RFID Solution of Inventory Control System (ICS) for Tang Siu Kin Hospital's training centre. Users can make use of RFID UHF Inventory Control, check-in/out, stock take and Security System to track the usage of over 5,000 pcs medical equipment via the ICS. This can improve the overall workflow and process and have an efficient asset management.

HKC Awarded RFID Solution of Asset Management System for Chan Shing Kee

HKC is honored to announce the award from Chan ShingKee, by providing their RFID Solution of Asset Management System (AMS) to all its stock either in warehouse or their shop display level. Chan ShingKee is one of the leading worldwide antique dealers in Chinese classic furniture and works of art. With the implementation of AMS in 23 areas of Chan ShingKee, the company can enhance the service level and operation efficiency of their Asset Management.

HKC Awarded the Online Booking System for Open University of Hong Kong

The Open University of Hong Kong is willing to spend more resources on ICT Solution as to support the daily activities and to improve the studying conditions for the students. To utilize and manage the school facilities' usage effectively, implementation of facilities booking system is one of the ICT Solutions which cannot be neglected.

It is HKC's pleasure to be awarded for providing an Online Facilities Booking System for Open University of Hong Kong to manage the booking of study centers, communal areas and multi-functional halls. It is a self-explanatory system that appeals to the users to make facilities booking, check the booking status, view the booking record, noticeinformation and cancel the noon-expired booking via Internet more convenient. Furthermore, the system allows the users real flexibility on the access from different mobile devices.

The system is based on core booking system modules with customized features and functions that can meet OUHK's specific needs and requirements. With a proven and ready solution available, HKC believes that expert domain knowledge can be extended to the proposed system and the respective development time can be largely reduced. Hence, HKC is confident to deliver an efficient and effective solution to OUHK.

The National Archives of Singapore (NAS), a division of National Library Board(NLB) has awarded to Singcomm to develop and implement an assets management solution to capture archival materials in its collection. Our proposed solution comes with user friendly interface to track and trace priceless archival materials within her repositories and at the same time provides fast snap shots of defined information to givethe management an overview of operations.

Carrot Home Solutions Limited has been invited to join iOS Solution Day on March 11, 2016 which isorganised by Hong Kong Mobility Parnter Program at Assaggio Trattoria Italiana, Hong Kong Arts Centre.

In the event, Carrot Home Solutions has demonstrated iOS smart home solution with the latest mobility and automation technologies, users can use Carrot Home Apps to control different devices such as lightings, curtains, air-conditioners, AV systems, scenarios, time schedule and energy saving in their premises.

The launching ceremony of RFID solution library management system was held in the library of Xinxiang Medical University at April 29, 2016. The Vice Principal of the University Yuan Zhiqing attended the ceremony and gave a speech. Representatives from the Principal's Office, Publicity Office of Party Committee, Office of Academic Affairs, Office of Student Affairs, Graduate School, Division of Finance, Auditing Office, Office of State-owned Assets, Office of Logistics Management, Library, Security Department and delegate of HKC Technology (Shanghai) Co. Ltd hadparticipated the ceremony.

The Library RFID Automation System includes 6 subsystems. First is the Self Check In/ Out Station, users can borrow or return the book on their own without human intervention and enjoy a more comfortable, convenient, humanized and high- quality service. The second one is Library Inventory System, whichhelp to solve the problems of locating, shelving and shelf reading, it improves the accuracy of data collection and shelf location. The third is Book Return and Sorting unit which can automatically scan the returned materials, show the relevant information, sort and return the books by using mobile stock take trolley. The fourth is the Security EAS Gate which serves to enhance safety and security of library items. Through detecting and alerting librarians of unauthorized removal of library items, library materials will be placed more secured.The fifth is the Terminal Management System, which reduces user's time to return books and provides a more convenient service for readers' free choosing and reading, and their self-study and self-checking. The system has greatly improved the library management system and enhances the working efficiency of librarians. Last but not least is the Mobile Phone Navigation System which provides the exact location of each book and navigates the readers accurately. The project will be completed in early Jun andby that time; all students are able to use their mobile phone to find the books more conveniently.The Vice Principal Yuan Zhiqing and Construction Department unveiled for the self-checking station together£¬and check the operation condition of the self-checking station.

The RFID system has been implemented in the University since 2013. After full observation and analysis, the university decided to adopt the RFID solutionlibrary management system offered by HKC Technology (Shanghai) Co. Ltd in 2015. The solution has passed the testing and entered the implementation stage. HKC Technology (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. has worked closely with the library technician team and the circulation department to tackle various difficulties, such as Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications library management system, campus card system docking. Finally all the systems had been installed successfully and they were satisfied the performance which has simplified the checking process and has enhanced the efficiency. Besides, the project has greatly reduced the labor cost in stock taking and book shelving. It has connected the loss-proof system and circulation system together, recording the borrowing and returning records.

The implementation of the Library RFID Automation System has changed the traditional library service mode, offering a one-stop service, which marks the university library is transforming from the traditional mode to a new one. This project also initiates the new service idea as well as reflects the humanization, informatization, and intellectualization of the university library system.

It enabled to sterilize maximum 6 books in 30 seconds, including book cover and inside pages and all kind of germs, virus, and bacteria particulate matters can be sterilized by using theUV-C lamps and air blower, it can kill 99.7% - 99.9% germs/virus in 30 seconds. At the same time, deodorizing function can remove the bad smell easily which can provide a comfortable and safe reading culture in the library. We believe there is a huge market potential in Asia and the librarians can encourage patrons to enjoy their self-service experience.
