The Trend of Home Automation

Technology is developing apace nowadays, customers are seeking intelligent as a selling point to generate their interest and purchasing desire. Moreover, people are desired to enjoy high quality of intelligent living style in their leisure time. HKC has offered an one-stop solution with simple operating platform (HA-Pad/i-Pad) to perform control, security, energy saving and health care function at your home. With the adoption of HKC home automation solution, you can enjoy comfort, care, convenience and connectivity at your fingertips.

The Central Intelligent Unit is the main focus of home automation system. HKC home automation solution offers customer with an all-round operation at home that makes life easier and more convenient. Scene control can be activated in our HA-Pad with the pre-set scene setting according to customers’ preference. Curtain, lighting, air-conditioner and AV devices can also control independently with preload remote control code via IR Learning Function.

You may aware that most energy consumption majorly comes from usage of lighting and air-conditioning. Except for the lux sensor and motion sensor will response to room temperature and object movement to adjust curtain, lighting, and air-conditioning, smart meter can also act as tool to measure energy consumption. Customers can retrieve energy consumption data, obtain the analysis of electricity consumption pattern, and manage to save electricity to prevent exceeding custom budget, aims to build a low-carbon life to save the entire environment and make the world green.

Since the aging population is growing from years to years, HKC has also taken into a great step to take care the elderly. With the adoption of HA-Pad, staff in telemedicine centre can conduct real-time consultation and diagnosis with patients via HA-Pad and upload updated medical record in patient record server. Face-to-face communications bring convenience for elderly which reduce transportation time and cost. It has also eliminated the geographic restriction which provides flexibility and scalability to health professionals.

HKC 2012 Group Seminar was held on January 26, 2013 in HKMA Causeway Bay. We are pleased to have our department heads to share their insight of the concept of core competence. Furthermore, we have honored to have honorable guest Dr. Eric Chin to share how to attract customers through social media platform. All the sharing of concept and knowledge provides colleagues with valuable knowledge and direction, and that in fact make the whole event very fruitful.

Hike for Hospice 2013

"Come join the hike for hospice" hike event for hospice 2013 started in the Tai Lam Country Park at 7.45am on 10th March. This year, over 80 teams joined the event was held by Society for the Promotion of Hospice Care and sponsored by different companies and organizations.

Being strong social responsible corporation, it has been a tradition for HKC to support "Hike for Hospice". Apart from going the hike event, we are very proud to be the official system sponsor, which make use of our advanced system to support the operation of this hike event.

Tanner Hill Retirement Housing Development – Home Automation Project

Hong Kong Communications Co., Ltd has honorable been awarded to be the Home Automation provider for Tanner Hill Retirement Housing Development for Hong Kong Housing Solution. HKC is committed to provide a comprehensive one-stop solution including Residential Care, Clinical Care, and Social Care to the targeted residents.

Residential Care is focusing on providing thoughtful home and lifestyle service with unique comfortable and attractive environment. Home automation system, video door phone system and motion sensor system etc are installed to provide complete solution.

Clinical Care provides a wide range of care, treatment and support to people with physical or neurological illness, cognitive impairments. Bio-data collection system and safety monitoring System are installed. Bed/ case movement are under monitored to guarantee safety and care of patients. Neighbournet system is provided with Social Care. Service booking and activity/event registration can be managed in Neighbournet with convenience to the residents.

The 11th retail shop of Circle Digital has newly opened in Landmark North, Sheung Shui. As always, our team provides all-rounded and professional advices and after sale services for mobile phone, accessories, digital camera to every customer.

Traditional lion dancing was hosted in Tseung Kwan O and Sheung Shui shop respectively for celebrating a prosperous Lunar Chinese New Year. It brings luck to Circle Digital and wishes us a prosperous future.

Official system sponsor for the Hike for Hospice 2013

HKC has honorable to be the official system sponsor for the Hike for Hospice 2013. The entire event has 600-800 participants and HKC has applied RFID system for the overall system operation. System application aims to increase hiker enrollment efficiency and increase accuracy and efficiency of data capturing for the participating records to eliminate human error, operation process and time. An identification badge with RFID technology is issued to each participant for recording simple personal information, pre-defined route path, timestamp at each checkpoint and monitoring information. When hiker arrives at every checkpoint, the hiker is required to show identification badge to staff upon the mobile device for checking in. Mobile device will inform hiker this checkpoint arrival time, the next checkpoint information, and also the checked-in time will be stored in both identification badge and mobile device. When the hiker completed the route and arrived at the final checkpoint, the mobile device at the final checkpoint would show all the information of the hiking and and related details , e.g. split time between checkpoints and total time used. The system has increase accuracy and efficiency of data capturing of hikers. It also facilitated the fluency of the entire event and the final preparation of the results.

Ekahau Location Tracking System for Sik Sik Yuen

HKC has honorable to provide an Ekahau Location Tracking System (Wi-Fi Location Based Tracking System) for Sik Sik Yuen. Sik Sik Yuen has set up a Wi-Fi network in Wong Tai Sin Temple to support 250 visitors to have wireless Internet access. Real Time Location System (RTLS) with 100 connections concurrently via Sik Sik Yuen Wi-Fi network and its self-developed mobile application provides tour guide service to visitors. It is required to download “Location Positioning Applications” through Android platform before performing self-tour guide function. With association to an AP for all communications with the Positioning Engine server, the Application is able to measure the signal strengths from the nearby APs and reports the result to the Positioning Engine server over the network. The entire RTLS solution allows complete management and tracking of Wi-Fi tags, location-based notifications, alerts and reports with the third-party application.

With the application, it provided convenience for visitors during the visit in Sik Sik Yuen and it also enriched their touring experience.

RFID Asset Management and Online Booking System for
Hong Kong Design Institute

HKC has honorable to provide RFID Asset Management and Online Booking System for Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI). HKDI is a leading design education institution under VTC group for students who interested in the evolving creative industries. We provided asset management and online booking system for managing and monitoring equipments, e.g. cameras, music instruments, which will be loaned to students for learning purpose. Asset Management System records the latest quantity of equipments identified with unique Radio Frequency Identification (RFID). The system keeps current status and stock transaction of equipments, which enhance the management process. Moreover, online booking system works with the asset management system for students to borrow items. Students could search, browse and reserve for the equipment they need, and e-mail notification is also created to remind reservation status.

Hike for Hospice 2013 – Help Add Life to Days

The 2013 Hike for Hospice was again held in the Tai Lam Country Park in the early morning of 10th March, offering an ideal opportunity to escape from Hong Kong’s concrete jungle, and contribute to Hospice Care. This year, Hong Kong Communications Co., Ltd is not only the participant but also the sponsor to support the event.

We have a team formed of colleagues and their friends joined the 15km Intermediate Route. The team started from the initial point, passed a short uphill climb before heading down an attractive valley and went back along forest tracks to rejoin the Short Route for the final downhill section to the Tai Lam reservoir. At the finish point, our hikers enjoyed a traditional Curry Lunch and completed this meaningful event.

Consortium for RFID Applications in Higher Education Libraries, held the Seminar on "RFID Application Standards in Higher Education Libraries cum Product Exhibition by Suppliers" at the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Library during 11-12 January 2013. The Seminar included “open discussion” session and on-site product & system exhibition for the participants and system suppliers. During the seminar, two important documents, namely,“UHF-RFID Technique for University Libraries – Part One: Data Model Specification (3rd edition)” and “UHF-RFID Technique for University Libraries – Part Two: Application Guide (3rd edition)” were formally announced and released, for inspection and evaluation by participating libraries. During the Seminar, HKC Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd showed LibraTM RFID Automation System with Multi-touch Solution, which allowed users to use different applications through multi-touching experience. Multi-touch technology, which recognizes an unlimited number of touch points, allows users to check information simultaneously. Multi-touch applications, which can be applied in different areas, interested a lot of potential customers and gave a deep impression to the technology of our technology solution.

On 23 Oct 2012, Home Automation Open Day was held at Yuan Zhong Yuan, Shanghai. Potential customers and press were invited to join this HKC event.

Home Automation Solutions includes Security Access System, Remote Bluetooth Sensor, Waterscape Induction Model, Infrared Induction Camera, Automation Curtain, Intelligent AV Room and so on.

ICT Latest Technology Seminar

Hong Kong Communications Co., Ltd is invited to one ICT trend and latest technology Seminar held on 1 March 2013. The Seminar was held in Macao, by our strategic partner, EcoTech Environmental Engineering and Technologies Co. Ltd. Ms. Candy Chow, our Marketing & Business Director of RFID & Computer Department, delivered a speech about RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) Document Management System on behalf of HKC.

RFID Document Management System & Solution benefits to the modern managerial requirements in many places where a large number of important and confidential documents are stored. Meanwhile, important documents can be tracked and retrieved easily in the use of RFID technology, thus increasing overall efficiency and company productivity.

At the end of November 2012, Singapore Communications(Wavex) Pte Ltd was graced with the “Partner of the Year 2012” accolade by SpiralTech Pte Ltd and Mobotix AG, in recognition of the “outstanding contribution and results in Singapore”.  General Manager, Samuel Ng, happily accepted the award on behalf of the company at a Mobotix partner ‘wake up’ conference and gathering at the Paulaner Brauhaus authentic German Restaurant in Singapore, organised by Spiraltech in conjunction with Mobotix.

Regional Sales Director, Stanley Chang, gave an informed speech and talked about the products robustness and market leading qualities, together with the ‘great support’ received from SpiralTech, in project implementation and product support on recent large scale deployments and installation of Mobotix cameras.  In 2012, Singapore Communications (Wavex) Pte Ltd successfully undertook big contracts selecting Mobotix cameras for the Pan Pacific Hotel Singapore and the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore.

Mobotix AG is a technologically advanced supplier of high-resolution, network-based digital video security systems.  Headquartered in Kaiserslautern, Germany, the company was founded in 1999.  SpiralTech Pte Ltd was established in 2001 and specializes in Mega-pixels network camera solutions, 360 degree immersive video surveillance solutions, complete Enterprise Video and Alarm management solutions, Video over IP solutions, Network Video Recording (NVR) and Codec solutions and Wireless solutions.

HKC awarded 2013 Best Green ICT (Innovation) Silver Award

Hong Kong Communication Co., Ltd (HKC) is awarded 2013 Best Green ICT (Innovation) Silver Award organized by Green ICT Consortium. This award has gained the recognition of its dedication in the innovation of ICT technologies and the devotion in creating a green ICT solution.

The solution named “HKC Green Home Solution”. It has adopted with innovative, self-developed HA-Pad with the tailor-made solution of Paperless System, Energy Saving System and Telemedicine System. Green and environmental friendly elements are integrated in the paperless and energy saving system with the solution which to minimize the electricity consumption and bring benefit to users. Telemedicine System is to monitor and taking care of the patients and elderly through distance monitoring.

The execution of this solution is to promote green to the individual and the communities with minimizing wastage of electricity from the customer perspective; reduce significant carbon emission and pollution from the public and community perspective. It also takes care and concern of the underprivileged group, so as to create convenience to both elderly/disabled patients and doctors.
