The Hong Kong RFID Awards were established to bring recognition to pioneering enterprises, which have successfully brought EPC/RFID technologies into their business operations. The purpose of the Award is to encourage the adoption of EPC/RFID technology by business in Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta region, and to foster the development of new EPC/RFID products and services.

The Library RFID Automation System (LIBRA) revolutionizes and enhances the traditional library means of circulating libraries items such as Books, Audio and Visual Tapes, CDs and DVDs.

The Library RFID Automation, LIBRA uses the combination of Web based environment, AIDC (Automated Identification and Data Collection) and RFID technologies to produce efficiency, seamless and self-service library environment. With the automated process provides by LIBRA, it allows real-time tracking and off-line data processing.

The proven RFID technology has overcome the line-of sight limitation of bar-code, providing multiple item detection and identification, faster processing time and read/write capability.

All library items are tagged with the RFID tags to facilitate the process of different LIBRA modules. Such modules includes the RFID Check In/Out Station, Return Item Chute, RFID EAS Gate, RFID Admin Station, Circulation and Grouping Station and Service Station. Since the LIBRA is made up of these flexible and independent modules, customization can be made to suit completely to customer's requirements.

The awards presentation ceremony will be conducted on 10 Oct 2008 at the GS1 Hong Kong Supply Chain Excellence Summit 2008 at the JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong.
